THE GALACTIC REPUBLIC,
An alliance of planets and mega-corporations that value democracy, justice and freedom, the Galactic Republic has stood for over twenty thousand years. Ruled by a Senate comprised of delegates from all its member worlds and overseen by a Senate-appointed Supreme Chancellor, the Republic struggles to restore its former greatness in the wake of the Sith Empire’s invasion decades ago. Having emerged victorious in numerous conflicts in the past with the aid of its protectors in the Jedi Order, the Republic has no intention of allowing the Empire to consume the entire galaxy. While the Empire consolidates its power, the Republic and the Jedi hurry to rebuild and prepare for the next conflict sure to come.

The Galactic Republic, ruled from its capital city-world of Coruscant, has been the dominant galactic government for ten thousand years. The Republic, led by a Supreme Chancellor, has a democratic government that has been able to sustain itself for more than twenty thousand years. It is said that its complete history would "fill a thousand libraries".

SOCIETY AND CULTURE.
The Galactic Republic had a very diverse culture. Member worlds were able to maintain their own culture in accordance with local beliefs, customs, and traditions. There was a wide variety of different cultures within the Republic: from religious communities like the Jedi to hive-like communes.

The Republic had a liberal policy towards arts as well. The dominant aesthetic style of Galactic Republic-era was opulence and ornamentation.

Although Humanocentrism was technically outlawed by the Rights of Sentience clause of the Galactic Constitution, it still very much existed throughout the life of the Galactic Republic. Human-led organizations such as Czerka enslaved entire nonhuman races, while planetary governments such as that of Taris reserved the best sections of the world for Humans, forcing non-humans into ghettos. The majority of slaves in the galaxy were non-humans. At the time the Clone Wars broke out, there were still lawsuits pending about pro-Human bias in the Republic government.

ORIGINS.
The Republic was born with the ratification of the Galactic Constitution in 25,053 BBY, during the Unification Wars. During that time Humans and Duros reverse-engineered the Force-based technologies of the Infinite Empire to create the first hyperdrive, allowing Coruscant to become the capital of the Galactic Republic 53 years later and would remain that way for twenty-five thousand years. The founding members of the government, largely Humans from the Core Worlds were protected from outside influence by the clandestine group known as the GenoHaradan, an organization which wished to see the government flourish and whose existence was unknown to the galactic populace, even the Jedi Order.

JEDI ORDER.
The Jedi Order, later known as the Old Jedi Order and referred to as the Holy Order of the Jedi Knights, was an ancient monastic peacekeeping organization unified by its belief and observance of the Force, specifically the light side. The Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic, and have become the most famous of the various groups that relied on the Force for their power. Led by a series of Jedi Councils, the Order has grown over the millennia despite facing many trials, most often threats from the Sith—wielders of the dark side of the Force.

A Jedi Council is an organized body of Jedi, typically Masters, serving the Jedi Order as an administrative body that governs the Order's academies, temples, and organizations such as the Jedi Service Corps.

GALACTIC SENATE.
The Galactic Senate serves as both the legislative and executive branch in the Galactic Republic; governing from the Senate Building located on Coruscant. Its primary duties are to mediate any disputes between star systems, worlds and cultures, to regulate trade between systems, to protect and care for citizens in need and to provide mutual defense in face of threats to the Republic.

REPUBLIC ARMY.
The Republic Army, also known as the Republic Armies, is the collective military ground forces of the Galactic Republic established in 25,053 BBY. What information there is reveals that its forces include specialized troops such as rocket-jumpers and also a fair number of combat droids of differing models. Each Army division is associated with particular places or beings. For example, a division raised on Coruscant might adopt (or be given) that name as part of its title thereby becoming the "Coruscant Division". One part of the Republic Army that outlives the rest is the Academy of Carida which serves as one of its officer training schools.

THE SITH EMPIRE,
The Sith Empire is a force of dominance, an authoritarian state forged from militarism, slavery and the dark side of the Force. United under a single Emperor and his Dark Council, ruled by the Force-sensitive members of the Sith Order and supported by countless loyal citizens, the Empire forsakes the freedoms offered by the Republic in favor of strength and order. Aiming to take revenge on the Republic for its exile centuries ago, the Sith Empire will stop at nothing to become the greatest power in the galaxy. Although an uneasy truce has settled over the galaxy, the Empire does not sit idle. From its capital of Dromund Kaas, Imperial leadership exerts total control over the worlds it has conquered, rebuilding its forces to once again march on the Republic.

SOCIETY AND CULTURE.
The Imperial population are much smaller when compared to the Galactic Republic and are divided between Sith and non-Sith. This division between the ranks means that both are worlds apart and that the upper echelons of power are reserved for only Force-sensitive Sith alone who served as the elite. While this is the case, the average citizen is still quite loyal to the Empire and many aspired to become Imperial Agents who were seen as the highest achievement for non-Sith.

ORIGINS.
The true origins of the Sith remain shrouded in mystery. The original Sith race was, in fact, largely unimportant until three thousand years ago, when Dark Jedi exiles arrived on Korriban and subjugated the Sith beneath their rule and their philosophy. As the years passed, the Dark Jedi interbred with those they ruled, and within generations, the word “Sith” took on new meaning. This powerful new civilization began expanding rapidly, led by a growing population of ambitious dark Force-users. Fifteen hundred years ago, the Sith civilization’s boundaries reached the Republic, and the Great Hyperspace War began. Dark Lord of the Sith, Naga Sadow, led his armies in an aggressive campaign to destroy the Galactic Republic. Though the Sith were successful at first, the Jedi Order rallied back to defeat their dark counterparts, systematically destroying the Sith civilization on Korriban. Escape and reconstruction unknown to the Jedi, the last of the Sith Lords managed to escape the carnage and fled into the Unknown Regions with an armada of his most trusted Sith and slaves. These surviving Sith wandered through space for 20 years before rediscovering the Sith planet of Dromund Kaas. The mysterious Sith Lord Vitiate declared himself the Sith Emperor and began rebuilding the Empire on the distant planet, hoping to one-day return for revenge. Over the next 1,300 years, these "True Sith" and their Sith Empire recovered their strength. They developed a massive Imperial military and a fleet of advanced warships. The Emperor undertook dark rituals which prolonged his life and his undisputed rule.

DARK COUNCIL.
While the undying Emperor serves as the unquestioned leader of the Empire, the twelve members of the Dark Council oversee the daily workings of their vast civilization and speak in the Emperor’s name. Each is among the most powerful Sith in the galaxy; to hold a seat on the council is the highest honor and the greatest position of influence a Sith can attain. The individual members of the Dark Council control their own spheres of influence and pyramids of subordinate Sith–overall Imperial military strategy falls in the hands of one Dark Council member, while study of ancient artifacts falls into the hands of another. These spheres occasionally overlap, leading to conflict. However, every Sith Lord and apprentice is ultimately answerable to the council member at the top of his or her pyramid. Similarly, non-Sith organizations are usually clearly answerable to one Dark Council member or another. Meetings of the Dark Council are normally held in the Citadel on Dromund Kaas or in the Sith Academy on Korriban. It’s rare for all members to gather at once–power plays among members are frequent, and several of the Dark Lords are virtual hermits. On the occasions when the Emperor summons them, however, all members of the Dark Council are expected to gather and obey.

IMPERIAL INTELLIGENCE.
Imperial Intelligence was the primary intelligence organization that served the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War. The largest organization under the Ministry of Intelligence, Imperial Intelligence answered directly to the Minister of Intelligence. Operating in the shadows, agents of Imperial Intelligence were skilled at manipulation, subterfuge, intimidation and assassination and were just as deadly as their Sith superiors.

IMPERIAL ARMY.
The Imperial Army is the land-based military branch of the Sith Empire, inventory included generic soldiers as well as Battle Droids and Commando units. Imperial Troopers are deployed in varying numbers, from small strike-teams to entire legions in order to invade or defend territory.

The Imperial Navy, is the naval branch of the Sith Empire's military. It fought against the Galactic Republic during the Great Galactic War. They utilized a large array of warships and starfighters, e.g the Exterminatus class destroyer.

MANDALORIANS,
An interspecies warrior culture stretching back thousands of years, the Mandalorians live for one purpose: to challenge the greatest opponents in combat and claim victory, for honor and glory. The best are proud fighters driven by a noble code, while the worst are bloodthirsty killers always looking for the next battle. While many act as independent mercenaries, the Mandalorians are divided into clans each answering to their own leader. From time to time in history, a single leader of all clans appears and is called “Mandalore.” Each new leader of the Mandalorians takes the name and mask of Mandalore and determines whether the clans will scatter or unite against a great foe. Initiates can be born into Mandalorian society or inducted from outside; either way, new Mandalorians face harsh trials as they prove themselves worthy and learn the secrets of Mandalorian weapons and armor. The Mandalorians have been loosely allied with the Sith Empire since the Empire’s return to the galaxy and played an instrumental role in the Sacking of Coruscant. Though not Imperial subjects, the Mandalorians have an enclave in the Citadel on Dromund Kaas. Their relationship with the Empire is sometimes strained, but the alliance offers one undeniable advantage: ample opportunity to face the galaxy’s greatest warriors, the Jedi.

Their strict warrior code makes them a formidable enemy for anyone to face. They have famously battled the Galactic Republic in the Mandalorian Wars and the Sith Empire but more recently in assistance to the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War against the Republic.

Even in defeat they respect their enemy for their strength. Although they share many similarities with the Jedi Order, including their code of honor, their stint of support of the Jedi under Mandalore the Preserver due to his respect and companionship of the famed Jedi Knights Revan and Meetra Surik was short lived and refuted by his successor Mandalorians with their loyalty going to those who they have often supported in history, the Sith Empire.

THE HUTT CARTEL,
Officially, the Hutt Cartel is a business alliance between several different Hutt clans, working together towards the common goals of wealth and prosperity. Between its members, the Hutt Cartel controls vast resources, countless credits and many independent worlds–not least among them Hutta, their adopted homeworld, and Nar Shaddaa, the crown jewel of the underworld. Although the Hutts have no formal government, the Hutt Cartel acts as a loose governing body on these worlds and others. Unofficially, the Hutt Cartel is a ruthless crime syndicate whose goals are not always so united. Turf wars and clan infighting have often left the Cartel in splintered uproar. Personal grudges and cutthroat competition can result in two rival clans warring in the streets one day and feasting together the next. While historically the Hutt Cartel has remained neutral in galactic affairs, both the Republic and the Empire have made recent attempts to secure the Hutts’ loyalty. It remains to be seen what the outcome of these attempts will be–and what effect the Hutt Cartel will have on the galaxy at large.

The Hutt Cartel is one of two dominant galactic crime syndicates, the other being the Exchange. The centre of the Hutt Cartel is on the Hutt homeworld of Hutta with numerous Hutt crime lords vying for power and wealth. The cartel is engulfed in a winner-takes-all crime war galaxy wide against its only true rival, the Exchange.

THE EXCHANGE,
One of the galaxy’s most prominent crime syndicates, the Exchange is the sleek, tech-savvy competitor to the Hutt Cartel. Where the Hutt Cartel has a clear, centralized authority in Hutt Space, the Exchange is a distributed network of gangs coordinated via the HoloNet; where the Hutt Cartel favors galactic neutrality, the Exchange sees the Empire as an untapped resource ready to bleed credits and the Republic as a living shield protecting its gangsters from Imperial retaliation. Three centuries ago, the Exchange was arguably the most influential criminal organization in the Republic. However, an internal power struggle to claim the territory of the infamous Davik Kang after his death left the Exchange in disarray, allowing the Hutt Cartel to seize control over many of its operations. It took many decades before the “new breed” of Exchange criminals arose, and the current syndicate is a different animal than the old. Active in slicing, extortion, spice dealing and weapons running, the Exchange is rapidly reclaiming lost territory, taking advantage of riots, gang wars and other acts of blatant violence to gain ground even on Hutt worlds like Nar Shaddaa. But the Empire is swiftly becoming a greater adversary than the Hutts–the Exchange wants to be the first crime syndicate to make solid inroads into Imperial space and is willing to kill whoever it takes to get there.

JEDI COUNCIL,
The Jedi Council is led by the Grand Master of the Order, and its members oversee all activities of the Jedi Order and are its main governing body. Members of the Jedi Council are the wisest and most powerful of their era.

BARSEN'THOR & THE CHOSEN ONE,
The Barsen'thor, a ceremonial term for the Warden of the Jedi Order. A title most prestigious and rare, with the current being the third to ever receive the title and the first in thousands of years. Their wisdom, skill, and immensely powerful connection to the Force makes them a bastion to the cause and a beacon of hope.

The Chosen One is the prophecised hero with a destiny of legend. Thought to be the one who will destroy the Sith Emperor and his followers and restore balance to the Force. Unthinkably powerful from a young age and still yet to reach their potential, this is one of the only few beings capable of resisting the Emperor's will.

The Chosen One is pivotal to the plot of Imperium and should only be taken by a member who sees themselves being that major piece. This character has no restriction to gender or age, and does not have to be a member of the Order or even a Jedi at all. This is the only canon position that requires a role-play sample and will not be allowed to someone that is difficult to deal with.

STARTING JEDI MASTERS,
A Jedi Master is a prestigious position that a Jedi achieves once he or she has successfully trained one Padawan and is highly skilled both in the Force and in combat. As of right now, characters on Imperium may not start more than Force Rank 5 without claiming the minor canon positions. But Jedi Masters may be made of the regular starting Ranks.

SUPREME COMMANDER,
The Supreme Commander of the Republic is the overall commander of the entire Galactic Republic Military.

COMMANDER OF HAVOC SQUAD,
The Commander of Havoc Squad is the mightiest soldier in the entire Galactic Republic Military, leading the special forces unit Havoc Squad. They are known throughout the galaxy as a force that turns the tide of the battle on pure reputation alone.

DIRECTOR & SPECTRE AGENT,
The Strategic Information Service, or S.I.S., is the primary intelligence agency for the Republic. The Director is given to the leader of the S.I.S., who directs the information and espionage bureau. They work together with the Jedi Order and Republic Military, and answer only to the Galactic Senate.

The Spectre Agent of the S.I.S. is the top agent of the bureau and is entrusted with extraordinary authority, and are above the law of the Jedi Order and the Senate.

SUPREME CHANCELLOR,
The Supreme Chancellor is the elected leader of the Galactic City, the governing body of the Galactic Republic. They hold the most power in the entire Galactic Republic and are responsible for the politics of every planet sworn to the Republic.

EMPEROR'S HAND,
The Emperor’s Hand is the second-in-command of the Sith Empire, acting as commander in chief on the Emperor’s behalf. They oversee the entirety of the Empire and ensure that the Emperor’s will and vision is being manifested. The Hand answers only to the Emperor himself and is the only being that has constant direct contact with the Emperor, with the Dark Council and the Wrath being the others that have ever seen him.

EMPEROR'S WRATH,
The Emperor’s Wrath is the personal enforcer and executioner for the Emperor himself. Their word carries the weight of the Emperor himself; having complete immunity within the Empire and answerable only to the Emperor and the Hand themselves, and not even the Dark Council. To involve themselves in the military or politics of the Empire is their own choice.

It is recommended that this character be the biological son/daughter of the Emperor and the deceased Darth Eckage, though this is not mandatory. This requires a role-play sample and furthermore will not be given to someone who is annoying or a dick.

DARK COUNCIL,
The Dark Council are the twelve most powerful Sith within the Empire and serve as the ruling body of the day-to-day going, each member controls a sphere of influence; twelve domains of politics and powers. They answer only to the Emperor, his Hand and the Wrath.

STARTING DARTHS,
A Dark Lord of the Sith, synomous with the title “Darth”, is a title given to some of the most powerful and/or recognized Sith in the hierarchy. As of right now, characters on Imperium MAY start as a Darth without claiming a canon position, though starting at Rank 5 it will claim a canon spot.

GRAND MOFF,
The Grand Moff is the supreme authority of the Imperial military outside of the Sith Order. They hold the most power out of any non-Sith in the Empire and unlike lesser Moffs, answer only to the Dark Council, the Emperor’s Wrath and the Emperor. He may not command any Sith, but for any Sith below the aforementioned to act against him is an act of treason.

MOFFS,
The Moffs of the Empire are sector governors and military commanders of the Empire. For a non-Sith, their rank is the highest of Imperial society and the Imperial military.

KEEPER, WATCHERS & CIPHER AGENTS,
The Keeper is the leading figure of Imperial Intelligence. The Keeper gives orders to the operatives, oversees the largest intelligence operations and is privy to all the secrets of the Empire and the Intelligent. Though they are one of the biggest key figures of the Empire, they answer to the Minister of Intelligence and the Dark Councilor leading their sphere, and know that failure will mean the end of their life and replacement.

Typically not field agents but not restricted, Watchers are observers that recover, process, analyze and works as preps and aides to Cipher Agents. They, alongside the Keeper, bear the secrets of the galaxy.

To be a Cipher Agent is to be one of the top three agents of Imperial Intelligence. They are stripped of their former names and identities and given numeral designations, such as Cipher Nine. The Empire’s agents of manipulation, subterfuge, intimidation and assassination, and can be more deadly than their Sith superiors. They are the prime field agents of Intelligence.

SUPREME MOGUL,
The Supreme Mogul is the head of the Hutt Cartel and the Three Families. The richest crime lord in the galaxy, leader of the criminal syndicate. It maintains a personal military consisting of both an army and a starfleet.

EXCHANGE COMPEER,
The Compeer is the overall head of the galactic crime organization known as The Exchange. The Exchange is the most powerful criminal organization of the underworld, spanning throughout the galaxy with their spice refinement and smuggling, extortion, weapon trafficking, slave trading, and bounty hunting. To be the Compeer is to be one of the most powerful and influential men or women in the galaxy.

BLACK SUN DON,
The Don of the Black Sun is the leader of the formerly most powerful organization in the galaxy. The Black Sun was formerly the most powerful and influential criminal organization in the underworld. However, they were defeated by the Hutt Cartel years ago and their many assets were seized by them.

MANDALORE,
Mandalore, recognized as the strongest and most capable of millions of the most feared warriors of the galaxy, functions as both the king and warrior-general. The position is not hereditary and centuries can go by without the Mandalorian clans uniting behind a single ruler. Part general, part king, all warlord.
