ACT ONE: RISE OF THE EMPIRE.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
Protected by the Jedi Order, the Galactic Republic has stood as a bastion of peace for a thousand generations. After the Mandolorian Wars, the greatest threat known to the galaxy had emerged in the form of the Sith Empire led by Darth Malak. It was with the return and redemption of the legendary hero Revan and the crew of the Ebon Hawk, that the Republic arose victorious. And just years later, the Sith Triumvirate had driven the Jedi to the brink of extinction, only to be defeated by the Jedi Exile Meetra Surik. Revitalization and recovery came soon thereafter, returning with a complement of decadence. The years of that peace would unknowingly, and ever so slowly, pave the way for one of the darkest eras of all time to fall upon the galaxy.
For three hundred years, the true enemy of the Galactic Republic had been preparing, growing stronger, while the Jedi Order held not a molecule of knowledge—knowledge that the peace they rested in was but a façade. In 3681 BBY, the tragic truth had unveiled itself faster than the Republic could fathom.
The onslaught of the Sith Empire was unlike any event in galactic history. The Sith had materialized from nowhere and launched an offensive of colossal proportions. What was one tranquility had been marred into terror, what was once safety was now utter destruction. And whatever peace was, it was a lie now. Horrifying reports from the Outer Rim did nothing but portend the utter destruction of the Republic, and that rapid onset of galaxy-wide havoc and panic was only the beginning of the Sith Emperor’s meticulous calculations. It was a flawless execution.
Before the galaxy knew it, the seemingly unstoppable gauntlet of Imperial dominion was gripping more and more across the galaxy, and it wasn’t long before the Republic’s oldest allies were starting to adopt Imperial colors. The Republic found itself gliding right into newfound enemy territory, and with the Mandolorians joining the Empire to receive the honor at fighting the galaxy’s greatest defenders, Korriban had fallen back into Sith hands without the Jedi Council even knowing.
The Republic and the Jedi Order became splintered between those who wanted to negotiate for a peace treaty and those who wanted to fight against the resurgent Sith Empire and save the galaxy from their tyranny. Republic leaders and members of the Jedi Council had arranged for an emergency meeting to prioritize the galaxy’s defense, but the session quickly became mired in politics. Irate Senators stormed out in protest for decisions which left their representatives sectors exposed to attack, while others rallied with the side of the Republic that wanted for the destruction of the Empire. And that itself was perhaps the greatest genius of the Emperor’s plot; he had turned the Republic against itself.
It wasn’t until five years ago when Thana Shan had become Grand Master of the Jedi Order did the Republic find its new hope, speaking of the Prophecy of the Chosen One who would defeat the Sith Emperor and restore peace to the galaxy. While her methods could sometimes be considered questionable and over-pragmatic, under her leadership, both the morale of the Republic and its chances of victory had exponentially risen. And now, the year 3660 BBY, the Republic is finally rising from the brink of collapse under the clutches of a dominating Sith Empire. The Jedi disconnecting from their roots, the Republic nursing its many wounds and the Sith consolidating their power in a galaxy torn between a war of blurred beliefs.
