Meet Reggie

Who's this cocky fucker?

Regulus Raidensic, born in abject poverty in the slums of Coruscant. He went through Jedi training but gave up before becoming a Knight, unable to reconcile his materialistic needs with the enforced monasticism of the Order. Now he works as a mercenary, selling his skills to the highest bidder although he is reluctant to work for Sith or Imperial paymasters. His one driving desire is to never be poor again; he will do whatever it takes to earn his credits, no matter how fucked up or nasty it might be.
I'd rather be on his good side...

You and me both. Reggie is easy to get along with, if you can look past the accent and the weird verbal mannerisms. He is always training himself to higher levels of skill, and he is always amenable to a sparring partner or whatever, especially one who can teach him something new. Otherwise he likes drinking and whoring, and telling stories of his exploits; a merc's legend is critical to his reputation, after all, so he usually embellishes the tales every time he tells them.
Fuck this guy! I want his head on a stick!

Take a number! Reggie doesn't hate anyone he's not paid to hate, not even the Sith. That being said, if you double-cross him or renege on a deal, prepare for the worst; Reggie is a man of his word and he takes contracts seriously, and he will run you down like the wrath of an angry Force God if you go back on an agreement with him!
Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir?

Reggie is technically bisexual, but he doesn't go out of his way for sex or romance. Dating is too time-consuming, after all, and way too expensive in the end; one-night stands are more his thing, and he's scrupulous about contraceptives and the like. STDs are another expensive thing he doesn't need!
Whatever. Anything else.

Obviously, clients are a thing for him, as he has to work for somebody; credits don't come from nowhere, after all! He prefers to work along, but he'll not complain about having to work alongside others who can pull their own weight. And in spite of his protestations to the Jedi Code, in some ways it still guides him; there are some jobs or people he won't accept, no matter what, and on very rare occasions he might even turn down payment altogether. And while he won't go out of his way to save the world, when something's happening right in front of him he's just not the kind of guy to stand by and let it happen, either.

<b><font size="3"><font color="4B0082">
<b><font color="ffffff">FORCE RANK 4.</font></b>
<br><b><font color="ffffff">LIGHTSABER.</font></b> Although Reggie surrendered his first lightsaber upon leaving the Jedi Order behind, in the years since then he found it expedient to build a new weapon, if only to keep in touch with his skills. The hilt is a foot long, carved from a rancor's tooth with a crude cross-guard, pried from the remnants of a Mandalorian warrior's saber-resistant armor; the blade is three and a half feet long, a dark purple in color. He dual-wields it with his prized Tremor Sword.
<br><b><font color="ffffff">MASTERED LIGHTSABER FORMS.</font></b> Jar'kai, Djem So

<b><font size="3"><font color="4B0082">
<b><font color="ffffff">MASTER AGILITY.</font></b> Reggie is surprisingly light on his feet for such a big guy, and he can run flat out for over a mile. More importantly, his endurance and stamina are awe-inspiring, and he can shrug off wounds or blows that would leave a lesser warrior dead outright. He might act lazy sometimes, but when the chips are down, there's very little that can sway him from his chosen course.
<b><font color="ffffff">PRACTITIONER PERCEPTION.</font></b> Reggie lost an eye, but had a Retinal Combat System implanted in the socket to compensate. As such he is skilled at tracking his foes and guessing at attacks, but he might rely on the device a little too much sometimes.
<b><font color="ffffff">ADEPT MELEE EXPERTISE.</font></b> Reggie has a solid grasp of swordplay and lightsaber combat, and it shows in his esoteric combination of sword and 'saber.
<b><font color="ffffff">PRACTITIONER RANGED EXPERTISE.</font></b>Life on the edge has forced Reggie to learn how to fight at range, and he has done so with some aplomb. He experiments with combining sword and blaster in combat at once for a degree of unpredictability, but even so his skill with a blaster will always be supplementary to his close-range talent.
<b><font color="ffffff">AMATEUR UNARMED EXPERTISE.</font></b> Reggie learned the very basics of Broken Gate back in school, but when it comes to grappling he's easy to overcome if you can match his strength.
<b><font color="ffffff">PRACTITIONER FORCE CONTROL.</font></b> Despite his great natural talent, Reggie prefers not to rely exclusively on the Force. He still knows quite a few tricks, but nothing to get excited over.
<b><font size="3"><font color="4B0082">
<br><b><font color="ffffff">SITH TREMOR SWORD.</font></b>
<br>Traced to an obscure Sith cult dedicated to sword mastery, Reggie acquired this particular specimen after destroying a new cabal who thought they could bring back those old ideals. He has tried to purify the blade ever since, with slow but appreciable success.
<br><b><font color="ffffff">CUSTOM ARMORED JACKET & PANTS.</font></b>
<br>Not wanting to sacrifice protection for movement, Reggie had this nifty ensemble created, with the red ascot to top it off. Comparable to some light armors, it does its job without complaining.
<br><b><font color="ffffff">ANCIENT SHOTGUN.</font></b>
<br>Exactly what it says on the tin, an old but serviceable 10-gauge slugthrowing weapon from days gone by. It can load a surprising amount of specialty ammo, and Reggie keeps a handy supply on hand at all times. These include Dragon's Breath shells (shoots huge gouts of flame!), electrostatic energy shells (blaster shotgun effect!), and rarest of all, shells loaded with unrefined cortosis shards that can disrupt a lightsaber and make life hard for other Force-users. He rarely carries more than five of any rare or special shotgun round.
<b><font size="3"><font color="4B0082">
<br><b><font color="ffffff">FORCE DEFLECTION.</font></b>
<br>As a trained Jedi, Reggie has a variety of basic Force abilities at his command that he can wield with ease. However, a few he has put particular effort into mastering are the physical powers, Speed, Leap, and Telekinesis. In addition, given his lack of skill in lightsabers, he took the time to master Force Deflection, which lets him deflect blaster shots without a lightsaber (go figure!).
<br><b><font color="ffffff">UNSTOPPABLE FORCE.</font></b>
<br>In case it wasn't clear earlier, Reggie cannot be stopped once his mind is set, whether in combat or otherwise. He can smash through most defenses like they weren't even there, and if need be he can simply bull his way through or even over any given barricades. Face it; nothing's gonna get in his way. Naturally, he has the sheer physical strength to pull off shit like this.
<br><b><font color="ffffff">TERRIFYING PRESENCE.</font></b>
<br>A peculiar talent, but a handy one. Reggie is a big guy, and intimidation comes easily for him. He knows just what to say and how to say to get the most out of any conversation, so long as his friends don't mind the simmering threat of unadulterated violence breaking out at any moment.
<br><b><font color="ffffff">RETINAL COMBAT IMPLANT.</font></b>
<br>As mentioned above, Reggie's eye was replaced with a sophisticated prosthetic which allows him some advantages in combat. It helps him track his surroundings and identify threats as they manifest, and in general makes it easier to be aware of shit.
<br><b><font color="ffffff">MERCENARY REPUTATION.</font></b>
<br>Having been a mercenary for over twenty-five years, Reggie has a reputation in certain circles. His name comes up easily when one is searching for good paid help, and anyone connected to the underbelly could tell a story or two about the jovial ex-Jedi. Especially concerning the rates and fees he charges for his work, which he always works hard to prove worthy of!
<br><b><font color="ffffff">MENTAL RESISTANCE.</font></b>
<br>As an Epicanthix, Reggie has a naturally high resilience when it comes to deflecting mental attacks and mind-reading. Not content to rest on his laurels, he worked to develop this resistance into something worthwhile, and now despite his otherwise mediocre command of the Force, his mind is all but impenetrable.

Born in the slums of Coruscant to a large family of beggars, Regulus lived in abject squalor until he was almost seven, picking pockets and being taught to envy those who had it better. Which was almost everyone else. One day he picked the wrong pocket, one belonging to a Jedi Knight on business; he was caught almost immediately, but since the Jedi couldn't afford the time it took to question the boy and take him home, young Reggie wound up going along with the older woman. Which was a good thing too, as he wound up knowing a few things from overhearing some gossip that came in handy for her mission. The close interaction showed her that he was sensitive to the Force as well, and when it was over she asked him where he lived. He refused to answer out of shame, but she got it from him anyway; instead of returning him, though, she surprised everyone when she asked his parents for permission to take the boy to the Temple for training. They gave him up quickly, being barely literate and with other kids to deal with anyway.
Life in the Temple was exciting, for a while. He wasn't a fast or a slow learner, but despite that the pace he went at could still be described as plodding, and the other kids quickly found out they could pick on him and he wouldn't fight back too hard. Not on his own behalf anyway; the bullies could pester him all day, but when they set their sights on someone weaker he would stand up for them instead. It reminded him of his life back home, being stepped on and put down all the time, even by his own family. It didn't help that he had a thick, barely decipherable accent, too.
In his early teens he was chosen by the same Knight who had rescued him years ago, and thus he became a Padawan. He displayed the same dogged determination to learn as he had before, only now everything was more challenging and he took to it better. It was in these years, however, that a rift began to form between Reggie and the rest of the Jedi. He took issue with the enforced poverty most Jedi lived in, the almost monastic lifestyle. They helped people, dammit, why shouldn't they claim whatever reward might be offered? Even when something was given, his master would always accept with a smile, but never to keep; it would always go right back to the coffers of the Order, and that seemed to annoy him more than anything. The missions he liked most were the ones when they were given credits, and whenever they would go by marketplaces or stores he would windowshop, daydreaming of one day having wealth, of being somebody important that no one could ignore.
The time for his Trials arrived, and he went through each of them with the same plodding determination as he always had. But when the time came to formally accept Knighthood and become a proper Jedi, Reggie hesitated. Standing before the Council, he knew they were aware of the arguments he had against the Order, even though he had never quite said as much to anyone. He hesitated, and refused, and a lifetime of grievances came to light; he didn't know how long he stood there arguing his position, answering the gentle questions and rebuffs as the Council tested his resolve. But in the end he was firm; he could not give his word to an oath he did not fully believe in. The Council respected his stand and demanded only his lightsaber, which he gave up willingly enough. He'd never felt quite right with that slim vibrating weapon of light in his hand; a blaster or a solid vibrosword were more reassuring. Sometimes even a blaster AND a solid vibrosword!
He quickly found out that, without the support and backing of the Order, independence was costly indeed. But he persevered, making use of the few contacts he had made during his time to establish himself as a mercenary of sorts. And demand for mercenaries was always steady; even without a war going on, there was always some dirty job or other that the big boys didn't want to deal with. One such job pitted him against a small cult of Dark Jedi, on some backwater planet no one else cared about; he went in, disassembled their ranks and killed their leader in a tense duel, claiming her sword and the cult's assets for his own. He identified the blade as an ancient Tremor Sword, possibly a dark artifact, and resolved to keep the blade and purify it as well as he could.
As the years went by, though, he discovered something odd about himself. Some jobs he took, he couldn't bring himself to accept full payment for, or even any payment at all; other jobs grated against whatever remnant of the Jedi Code still guided him, and he had to turn them down or demand higher compensation. Good deeds could be their own reward, he finally realized, although that didn't mean a fellow couldn't take a heft purse home at the end of the day either!
